John Surtees

John Surtees was born in 1934 in Tatsfield and died in 2017. He was the only British motorsport racer to win world championships on two and four wheels.

Edenbridge was proud of his long connection with the town, where the Surtees team factory and business was based for 56 years. This photo was from an exciting event in 2014 when John Surtees led a parade of racing cars and bikes as they roared twice down Edenbridge High Street.
