Accessibility Statement

How we make this website accessible

This accessibility statement applies to:

www.visitedenbridge.com

This website is run by Edenbridge Town Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Live video streams do not have captions
  • Contact forms generated by the WPForms Plugin used on our website may not be fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Search forms and images generated by the ACADP directory plugin are not fully accessible to screen reader software

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Edenbridge Town Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to ‘the non-compliances and exemptions’ listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Disproportionate burden

  • Our directory is run by the ACADP plugin which also generates interactive maps for the user. Images contained within these maps do not have ALT descriptions.  This may cause the site to fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.4 (Link Purpose).
  • Forms generated by the ACADP plugin to filter the interactive are missing labels that identify them. This may cause the site to fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.2 (Labels or Instructions).
  • Clear Buttons on the search forms generated by the ACADP plugin do not have any text within them. This may cause the site to fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
  • The WPForms plugin which provides our contact form functionality does not label hidden form fields (related to CAPTCHA services). People using screen readers cannot see these form fields. This may cause the site to fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).
  • The WPForms plugin does not allow hidden fields (relating to CAPTCHA services) to be identified programmatically. This may make it more difficult to auto-complete form fields with known information. This may cause the site to fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.5 (Identify Input Purpose).
  • The WPForms plugin does not have sufficient contrast on hidden form field. People with visual impairments may not be able to see these fields effectively. This may cause the site to fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11 (Use of Color).

Both of these plugins on our website are built through third party software, which we do not have direct access to change and amend. We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues and we believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment when the supplier contracts are up for renewal.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix walks guides or information leaflets prior to this date.

Any new PDFs we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 29 September 2026.

This website was last tested on 29 September 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

The test was carried out by Black Spiral Design Ltd. The most viewed pages and templates were tested using automated testing tools (Silktide and WAVE) by our website team. A full audit of the website content was carried out using the SiteOne Crawler.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We will repeat the audit annually and apply any new fixes or changes required. We will also apply any fixes or changes for accessibility as they are raised in response to any queries and complaints we receive.

Due date for review: September 2027
